If you’ve been searching for the perfect Northern California wedding venues to consider, do I have the perfect list ready for you below. Up here near the San Francisco Bay Area, the landscapes are iconic, the venues are full of character, and the ambiance is unbeatable. Whether you’re dreaming of vineyard views, historic gardens, or something a little off the beaten path for a more intimate feeling, this list has you covered.
Here’s a roundup of some of my favorite Northern California wedding venues, from Sonoma to Marin to the Bay:
Sova Gardes
If you’re looking for a Sebastopol wedding venue that blends rustic charm with vibrant, manicured gardens, Sova Gardens is the perfect spot. Tucked into Sonoma County wine country, it offers couples a gorgeous mix of nature and elegant design. You can exchange vows under an arbor framed by olive trees, enjoy cocktail hour under a spacious redwood-decked pergola, and dance the night away beneath the stars on the Pavilion Dance Floor.

Sova Gardens is a charming Sebastopol wedding venue that blends rustic style with lush, colorful landscaping. With both indoor and outdoor spaces available year-round, it’s perfect for couples who want a flexible venue surrounded by nature. You can exchange vows under an arbor framed by olive trees, host cocktail hour on the spacious redwood deck, and dance the night away under the Pavilion. A private Bridal Bungalow & Patio offers a peaceful getting-ready space. It’s ideal for those wanting a relaxed setting with European-inspired elegance.
A couple of important notes when booking: Sova Gardens requires couples to hire a day-of wedding coordinator and to use their preferred in-house catering service. All other vendors—like florists, DJs, and photographers—you’re free to choose yourselves!

Babette
This East Bay cafe space offers one of the most unique backdrops for micro-weddings and receptions. It offers both indoor and outdoor wedding ceremony options, plus a charming courtyard that’s perfect for cocktail hour or a seated dinner. The cafe itself is known for its commitment to seasonal, locally-sourced food, so if you’re a foodie couple who wants to serve a meal that actually gets talked about? Babette is it.

This venue is ideal for couples planning a micro wedding or elopement in Berkeley, especially those who want an artistic backdrop, an inclusive vibe, and a space that reflects their personality.

B.R. Cohn Winery
B.R. Cohn Winery in Glen Ellen, California is a private 70-acre estate offering sweeping vineyard backdrops, a historic olive grove with trees dating back to the mid-1800s, and panoramic views of the Mayacamas Mountains. It’s everything you could want and more for a winery wedding.

Ceremonies are often held on the Great Lawn, where you’re surrounded by vines. Receptions can flow into the elegant outdoor amphitheater or under a tented pavilion for that perfect indoor-outdoor feel.

It’s ideal for couples who want a romantic, naturally beautiful setting that feels luxurious but still completely grounded. Whether you’re planning a small elopement among the vines or a full weekend celebration with up to 500 guests, B.R. Cohn’s experienced events team helps make the day feel effortless from start to finish. It’s perfect for brides who want that timeless wine country vibe.

Vintners Resort
Vintners gives you that European countryside charm, but it’s all happening right here in Sonoma County. No passport needed for this perfect venue.
Ceremonies here can take place in the gardens, with nature as your backdrop. Then you can toast under the stars in the courtyard and move into the elegant ballroom for a night of dancing.

On-site accommodations for your guests. A full spa for pre-wedding pampering. And John Ash & Co., their award-winning restaurant, which makes the food and wine experience just as memorable as the ceremony itself. It’s ideal for couples who want their whole weekend to feel easy, elevated, and totally seamless.
Rancho Nicasio
Rancho Nicasio is all heart and Northern California soul. Tucked in the tiny town of Nicasio, this historic 1940s roadhouse sits among Marin’s rolling hills and endless skies. Honestly, the drive there is one of my favorite parts of my couple’s wedding day. Think winding roads, grazing ranch animals, and postcard-worthy views.

It’s the perfect setting for a laid-back, music-filled wedding. You’ve got outdoor lawn ceremonies, rustic indoor spaces, and the option for live music if you really want to throw a party.
It’s ideal for couples who want their wedding to feel more like a summer festival — casual, fun, and full of personality — with just a little western charm sprinkled in.

I put together an exclusive blog post that takes you through a full wedding day, start to finish, check it out!
Marin Art and Garden Center
This place is straight out of a fairytale. Located in Ross, CA, the Marin Art and Garden Center is a top Northern California wedding venue for couples wanting a romantic garden wedding. With redwood trees, blooming gardens, and open lawns, it blends natural beauty with elegance. Just 20 minutes from San Francisco, it’s perfect for those dreaming of an outdoor wedding with a timeless, laid-back vibe.

My favorite ceremony spot on-site is the historic gazebo lawn. It’s their most popular wedding ceremony spot with a gorgeous white gazebo surrounded by Japanese maples and beautifully manicured lawn. The Gazebo Lawn can hold up to 300 for a ceremony, but can be intimate with 100 guests.
Couples can also explore the Picnic Grove which I feel could be perfect for a laid-back cocktail hour. Plus, the charming Butterfly Habitat, Redwood Amphitheater, rustic Barn Theater, and even more stunning architecture is scattered across the property.
Just 20 minutes north of San Francisco, the Marin Art and Garden Center is in a prime location. It’s one of my personal favorites — perfect for couples wanting a timeless, romantic garden wedding vibe.

Berkeley City Club
If you’re drawn to historic architecture and major old-Hollywood vibes, the Berkeley City Club is going to sweep you off your feet. Designed by Julia Morgan (yes, the same legend who designed Hearst Castle), this Gothic Revival landmark has the kind of interiors that make you feel like you’re starring in your own vintage film.

The Berkeley City Club offers some seriously stunning event spaces. Imagine a grand ballroom, lush private gardens, and a jaw-dropping courtyard that’s practically made for wedding ceremonies. Even better? It’s also a boutique hotel, so you and your guests can stay right on-site.
If you’re searching for Northern California wedding venues with old-school glamour and deep Bay Area history, the Berkeley City Club is truly in a league of its own.
Lodge at Marconi
Nestled inside 62 acres of coastal forest at Marconi State Historic Park, The Lodge at Marconi is one of those Northern California wedding venues that feels like your own private retreat. Towering eucalyptus trees, sweeping views of Tomales Bay, and wide-open spaces set the stage for a wedding that’s part celebration, part nature getaway. Ceremonies can be cliffside with bay views or tucked into peaceful meadows under the trees. The Lodge’s mid-century modern architecture gives everything a relaxed, elevated feel. And with cozy lodging right on site, you can easily turn your wedding into a full weekend experience.

Northern California has no shortage of incredible wedding venues, but these are places that genuinely have a feel to them. Venues you and your loved ones can turn into a mini-staycation. And if you’re anything like me, you want your wedding day to feel uniquely like your and your partner.
If you’re ready to turn one of these stunning venues into your forever-memories, I’d love to capture it all for you. Reach out to me here!
